The Separation Technical Research and Educational Laboratory (EKOL) was set up by the Faculty of Science and Chemical Institute of Eötvös Loránd University with our laboratory to develop new measuring methods which can be implemented with the connection of gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography (HPLC) and other related techniques. This research workshop, played a role of paramount importance in domestic education of chemistry: dozens of students carried out their research projects in the laboratory, and 15 project works, 49 theses and 8 PhD-theses spawned from their work.
Laborkaland (Labadventure) was an interactive day dedicated to education with tasks and activities taken from everyday life. We ware expecting the participation of secondary school students interested in the functioning of the world around us. Hundreds made it up to our laboratory or into the science adventure centre of our partner, the Palace of Miracles. Laborkaland was granted the CSR Hungary award in the year of 2016. From the year of 2018 secondary school student groups are received on a competitive basis evaluated by their proposals.
Wide ranging research is conducted in the Eurofins Knowledge Centre in the field of environmental protection, food safety and health protection in cooperation with institutions of higher education (ELTE, SZIE, Corvinus). Engineering students of the University of Debrecen may get acquainted with the most state-of-the-art laboratory tools and methods through the new collaboration between the Faculty of Agriculture, Food Sciences and Environmental Management and our lab. Joint work will cover microbiological, analytical and genomic research.
